Energy efficiency programs built around strategic energy management (SEM) can help the workforces of large organizations identify energy-saving opportunities, implement improvements, and track reductions in usage. Programs can also offer another tool, energy management information systems (EMISs), to organize energy data gathering and analysis. This report takes an in-depth look at SEM and EMIS programs across North America, and then goes on to explore the benefits of bringing these two tools together in a single, comprehensive offering. Combining workforce development and automated data management—people and technology—SEM/EMIS programs have the potential to substantially increase energy savings.
